Glazing

A Note about Glazing…… the traditional glazing, and still by far the most popular, is glass. Our greenhouses are designed for 3 mm or 1/8th" glass. The glass prices noted are based on approximately US$1.40/sq ft or CAN$1.70/sq ft, which should be typical of most local glass shop costs. Be sure to check around your area to get the best price. We do not ship glass for cost and breakage reasons.

Glass charts are included in the erection manual with each greenhouse.

The other type of glazing is polycarbonate which is constructed in sandwich form containing square tubes. Our greenhouses will accept up to 6mm thickness, and this can also be obtained locally, although probably costing more than glass. We can supply and ship polycarbonate - please request a quote for your selection of greenhouse.
The advantage of polycarbonate is that its insulation value is higher than glass (R2/2.5 vs. R0.9 for glass).

However, glass has several advantages - a much higher light transmission (over 95% vs. less than 80% ), it gives the structure much more mass weight for wind resistance, and is more aesthetically pleasing in the garden, ( as well as costing less ).
